Today I perused a regional parenting magazine. I’ll even admit that it is from my own region. And we are Type-A people if ever there were any.
I was struck with the fact that out of about 150 pages, there were maybe five articles and the rest was ads. But not just any ads. Seventy percent of them were for various esoteric camps and extra-curricular activities kids could do (claymation, cheerleading, rock bands, underwater basketweaving), and the other 30 percent were marketed to the parents for meditation, anxiety cures, therapy, and panic attack alleviation.
There’s a story there. There’s a book there. Gonna get on it.
